Day 165: POS Test On Desktop

I decided to give up on the prototype hardware for now, and just work on the open source software. I was able to get it installed and set up, but really, I am not liking it too much. It hasn’t been updated in awhile, and even though it still works, it doesn’t seem to be the foundation that I was hoping for.

The problem I face here, though, is I have never ran a business like this before, so I am not really sure what the software even needs to be able to handle. It looks pretty basic, though.

I also figured out what the issue was on the other hardware and why it wasn’t getting installed as planned. Still, I am not too sure this is the direction I want to go.

What will happen is, the features I do get won’t be that great, but the features I want will be really hard to fit into the existing code. It would be quicker to just from scratch and do everything so I know the code.

Even the benefit of bugs being fixed since it’s open source doesn’t seem to be happening. I haven’t entirely ruled this out, but so far, it’s not looking too great.
