So after thinking about it yesterday, I decided to try some Facebook page promotion just to see if the whole page thing is even worth doing. I am not a real big fan of the strategy, but I figured I would give this a shot.
The idea is that I would post comments on other pages that are related to mine as my page. That should get some people who are visiting those pages to see my comment, see the name of my page, and then visit my page.
The idea seems really spammy to me, but whatever. To make it extra spammy, I got a stupid comment tool that should help automate part of the process.
I loaded it up and tried it out, but I couldn’t get it to work. I eventually figured out that I needed a Facebook app created to generate authentication tokens, and in order to do that, it had to match a certain domain.
My real Facebook app tokens were failing because of the domain mismatch. However, it took me long enough to get to that point that I didn’t even bother trying to fix it.
When I get more time, I will do the whole Facebook app creation just for this stupid thing and then let it run to see what happens. I have a feeling that this strategy is overused already and no one will care about lame comments posted in other pages.
Still, I think it’s worth a shot if only to prove that it doesn’t work. Last resort will be to pay for ads to promote the page.
