Day 107: First Post Office Trip

With some stuff sold on eBay, it was time to make my first trip to the post office in Pittsburgh…it didn’t go so well. Google Maps says it’s 7 minutes away, and it only took me an hour and 10 minutes to get there!

I got really lost going there. The post office is in a shopping center, which seems to be the shopping center where everything is in. There are roads that lead to other shops, but it’s really like driveways that come out of the parking lots.

My GPS has the address listed on the wrong side of the road, something I didn’t realize until I made the same turn at a red light 4 different times.

It also seems like the GPS isn’t real good with the parking lots. After driving around in circles, going the wrong way, and then looping back to do it all over again, I pulled into a parking lot of something, I think it was some kind of medical center.

I then checked Google Maps to see where exactly this was, and that’s when I zoomed in enough for stores to be labeled. What they have labeled the post office and what the address shows were way far away from each other…well, not way far away, it was just on the other side.

When I was driving, I kept looking on the right, since it was supposed to be on the right. However, it was mainly parking with an IKEA and some restaurant. Then, when it told me to turn right, there wasn’t even a road to turn on.

On the left, however, was a ton of shops. It seems like that was the main part of the shopping center since all of them were connected. I clicked on some other shop and had it give me directions to that, and I was finally able to find the stupid place.

There was a drop box like I normally use, but my box was too big this time to drop. The line was incredibly long going all the way to the door. I figured i would just walk up and drop off the box, but I had to cut through the line.

The Ohio post office has a line on the left and they place packages on the right. I just have to walk around the line to the right side, and then walk up to put my package down. Here, the packages were being set on the left, and I couldn’t get to the left side. I ended up walking right to the front, and then cut over.

Pretty sure one mail lady didn’t really like the fact that I did it, but I didn’t really care. I wasn’t going to stand in line to just hand them a box.

Coming back was way easier. I got a little lost, and made a random guess, but I guessed right. It seems like if I go there enough, things shouldn’t be too bad. The only real downfall is that the post office is the opposite way of work.

With Ohio, I pass the post office on the way to my old job. Here, I either have to go the opposite way and then loop around and go into work, or pass my apartment, hit up the post office, and then go home.
