I talked to a potential client starting December last year. After discussing what they wanted, it took about a month to hear back. After talking to them again, I didn’t hear back again. It got to the point where I thought they weren’t interested in working with me. Today, I finally heard back.
This actually worked out at the perfect time. The second client is running out of work, and I have a feeling there isn’t any more to do.
This one is a better fit for what I do, and something that will be way more consistent since there is plenty of work, and they are already set up to assign work to other team members instead of being a one-man-show that funneled all the work through one person.
The big problem with the current client is the one guy the work has to come through is a big bottle neck. He’s the one that is keeping the work from coming to me. With the new client, that’s not the case.
They also have the work already broken out and ready to assign, which will really help speed things up. I have a call with the new client for tomorrow. I am not really sure what the process is and how much more I have to do in order to get the work.
They did say that the big delays between calls should be over with, and things should move quicker. I don’t even know what the call tomorrow is about, but it will be my third call with them. I would like to just get started with them so I can end the work with the second client instead of trying to chase down more work to justify doing it.
This client should really bring in the money, though, which is another reason I would like to get started as soon as possible. With the bigger workload, I will likely be busy to the point where I may not have time to do anything else, but at least I would have more money coming in.
The first client was supposed to end around June and is now pushed out to August, but the time is definitely limited. It may be a lot of work now handling two clients, but there will soon be just one, and if I can rake in enough money, I can get the other rental properties I was hoping to get.
