Day 38: Super Bowl Sunday

Today is Super Bowl Sunday! It also wasn’t a very productive day. I fell asleep in the afternoon, and woke up just in time to watch the Super Bowl. I thought about trying to do some Denver Broncos related shirts, but based on the last time I tried the shirt thing, I probably should have had everything ready to go sooner.

I decided against trying the shirts. If I keep it sports related, basketball would be next with the NBA Finals being in June. If I really thought this was a good idea, I should get started on some design and campaigns, and have everything ready to go beforehand. I am not entirely convinced it’s a good idea, though. It seems like there are a lot of legal issues along with a lot of other people doing something similar. I don’t know how to get any kind of competitive advantage.

eBay sales started again after selling nothing yesterday. The highest profit item sold out, though. I actually had 2 items sell out today making it less likely I get sales tomorrow or any time after. I did look into a way to get some site sales going.

One site comes with inventory, so it’s not the cheapest site ever. I was looking at BizBuySell.com as a possible option to sell the site along with the inventory as those listings seems to be in the price range I would need to get. One listing is $49.95, but a broker account is 59.95 and allows for 25 active listings at a time.

There is an account set up fee, but I am thinking I go with the broker account, list the site along with any others that are even close to being ready, and then seeing what kind of a response I get. There is a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, so if I get no responses at all for anything I listed, then I know it’s not a good channel to use.

However, if I can get someone interested in the site and inventory, or anything else I list, I would get an idea of what actually sells there. I have a feeling that the cheaper start up type sites won’t go over well, but for the $10 more to get 25 listings, I am thinking it’s worth a shot, even if it’s only for 1 month.

The nice thing about this is if I get some sites listed, and then also go with an account on other subscription-based classified sites, I can list the same sites and run a little test to see where I get the most sales. After that, I can stop worrying about the other sites and focus on the one marketplace that gets results. I think I can get about 7 sites ready to go along with a few start up sites that I doubt I sell, but will just throw them in since I have listings available.

Other than that, I spent the day doing lame work that needed to get done, like laundry.
