Day 56: Sent Out Resumes

Since I kind of hate my apartment, I was thinking about moving out. If I was going to move, I like to stay close to where I work to avoid a long drive in. Since I also hate my job, I started looking for a new one.

The ideal job would be one where I could work as a contractor under my own company doing the work I would like to eventually do on my own. Basically, take a step away from being an employee, but not become entirely my own company getting my own clients.

If I stick with the work I like and want to do, there aren’t many options. I either have to change the type of work, become an employee again, or go back to companies I previously worked for and try to get rehired as a contractor this time.

I sent out about 7 resumes. Some of them were questionable, though. Also, a new job could cut into the client work that I am already doing. It may be better to just stick with it here, even in my current apartment, to avoid screwing anything else up.

There are times where I hate my day job and can’t stand to be there, but then it gets slightly better. I was hoping I could find out resumes, get calls back, and wait to find something I actually like, not just jump at the first offer I get.

When I got this job, about a year and a half ago, I remember the whole process taking a lot of time. I would send out resumes, a few days would go by, I would finally get called, a few more days, then the interview, and then a week or even longer.

It seemed like no one was interested and then they all got back to me at the same time. I have about 2 months and 2 weeks to go before I have to move out of this apartment, so I plan on sending out resumes and seeing if I can land anything promising by then.
