Day 75: New Client Task was Taken

With the new client, I was given a task to complete, and I typically do one for free to help land the contract. Today, I got an email saying the task I was supposed to be working on ended up being high priority, so it was completed already.

Now that’s not sounding too good. Getting a task and then getting it taken away sounds like my days here are limited. He did apologize for it and gave me a new task, though.

The new task seems like it could be easier, but I was already screwing around with the original one trying to figure out where everything was and how it works.

Really, I just want the stupid free task out of the way so I can start billing. Once I get the first paycheck, it’s easier to dedicate time to the project without worrying about whether or not I will get paid and how reliable the client is.

Really, I don’t even know how to submit my time or invoices. That’s the other reason I want to get this over with so I can find out how things are supposed to work.

If the process itself is too annoying to deal with, I would like to have the option of backing out before I invested too much time into the project.
