Another guy on my team flew out to California for an interview. I was really hoping he would have gotten an offer so we could quit together. However, I think I am supposed to give 15 days notice, so I submitted my resignation today.
Nothing says the team is on a downward spiral like 2 people quitting at the same time, but he didn’t get an offer yet and I don’t want to wait. Realistically, I don’t know of anyone who made it far enough to get a plane ticket and hotel for an onsite visit, and then not be offered a job.
I tried to convince him to just quit with me and then wait for the offer, but he didn’t think that was a good idea.
After submitting the lame form, I sent an email asking if there was anything else I needed to do. Mainly because the date of my last working day was never asked. I was really hoping it wasn’t calculated, and I somehow missed count.
I got a reply back saying we can discuss once my reporting manager got to the office…that wasn’t until 1:00pm. She eventually just called me which was real awkward because the rest of my team was around me.
Saying that I was going to leave because I hate my team and the work, with everything close enough to hear me sounded like a bad idea. She never came over to talk to me once she got to the office, though.
I feel like she knew it was coming. A big clue should have been when I requested to be moved off this client to another one. I don’t know how else to say I hate it here. There were no other clients I could be moved to.
This was a couple months ago. Since nothing has changed, she had to know I didn’t like being here and would be considering other options. She did mention my resignation came as a surprise, but I don’t know how it could have.
