Day 113: Meeting/Laptop

After surgery yesterday, I made it into work today. When I walked in, there was some other guy in the room, and I was introduced to him. He is my reporting manager and he reports to the guy I did the interview with. Both were out of town last week.

So I do the meeting with him. We walk around, he shows me some stuff, and tells me all about the work we are going to be doing.

The entire time, he keeps telling me I can leave, if I don’t feel so good. I figure I already took 2 days off and it’s my second week, so leaving doesn’t seem like the best option, especially since I really have nothing to do.

I can just sit there instead of sitting at home without losing another sick day or having any real pressure. I was waiting to meet the guy I interviewed with, but he never showed up.

I was getting bored and thought about just leaving when someone came in and delivered my laptop. The good news is I got it, the bad news is it makes leaving pretty hard.

There was some set up work I needed to do that could only be done while I was plugged into the network. I had to stay to get that done.

The power outlets are on the other side of the room where I would have to walk around everyone and try to get my charger plugged in, so I did the whole set up thing and when the battery was close to dying, I went home.

Carrying my personal laptop and the one I just got was heavier than I would have liked. I didn’t feel too great after the surgery, and the one thing I was told not to do was lift heavy things.

After I got home, I didn’t really do much. Laying down wasn’t as painful anymore, but I had to lay on my back. I was told 3 to 7 days before the bandages could come off, and 14 days to recover. I just wanted to sleep through the weekend to get the recovery part over with.
