Day 12: Making Improvements

So I have been looking into the white label WordPress plugin from before. I quickly started hacking it up to see how it worked and was able to get it integrated with my current setup.

I have been setting up better development environment to work on it. Most of my changes were just hacks to see if it would even work correctly. I still need to go through it and make the changes according to the WordPress best practices.

I did notice some unused code, though. I also saw some tooltips as “lorem ipsum” which isn’t real encouraging. I am a little nervous that the plugin itself wasn’t fully tested and was release as a white label product with the intention that it could be sold for a higher price being white labeled, but with little chance of ever having to do support for it since no one actually uses it.

I would like to test it and provide a better manual/guide on how to use the plugin. That will slow down the launch, but if the plugin really does have issues, it’s unlikely anyone else is white labeling and attempting to sell it.

Plus, I am thinking about offering companion products along with it and will need time to get everything set up. I still don’t even have a name for my version of the plugin. I still feel as though the white label base removed a lot of work needed at the start up, but it’s not as simple as just renaming it and re-launching.

The other issue I see running into is a lack of people supporting me. If only the Charly Gud blog was more popular, I could get more insights from visitors and likely offer early versions to visitors as my beta testers. Right now, I have ideas that aren’t actually validated.

The other option is a launch without testing and feedback, and hope for the best! Also, I should probably mention today was a $0 day. After talking about the decline in sales yesterday, I sold nothing today.
