Day 128: Client Work Catch Up

I did some catching up with the original client today. I had this task that was given to be by another guy on the team. I basically took it from him to free he him up to work on another important issue. There was a similar task I also worked on for a guy on a different team. That guy tested all the changes I made, and told me what else was needed. For this task, I heard nothing.

I was starting to think this was a pointless task that wasn’t really needed anymore. However, I did spend some time working on it previously, and I mentioned I was working on it in a few status calls I did.

Just giving up on it seemed like a bad idea, so I figured today I would get it to where I think it needed to be. I don’t really have any details on why it’s needed or what it will be used for, but the task the guy needed to do is already done.

I though if I could just get it close, he would likely take over, if he actually wanted it still. Plus, I feel obligated to deliver something after spending time on it and making it known that this is what I was working on.

It turns out I was really close to being done based on the all the work I already did. It was just some minor touches that were needed to get it complete. I got it finished, and likely won’t mention it until someone asks what ever happened to that task.

Also, getting this done clears out some of the work that was started and never finished so I can go back to tackling the new defects assigned to me. Getting items closed is likely the best way to keep doing work for them since they run a report of how many open items there are per week.
