I am thinking about importing from China again, and selling on eBay. I have been thinking of some products to get, and am leaning towards business equipment. Mainly, the equipment is expensive and the Chinese imports are cheaper. There also isn’t a strong brand. I don’t have to worry about the Chinese products competing against big name brands.
With the possible business acquisition, the business equipment could actually be useful to me. If I am using it, I have a better idea of how it all works, and could offer some support and package deals.
There’s also a software component to it. I could work on something custom and offer that for free with purchase. That would give me an advantage as a seller, and would make my eBay listings a better value since it could include everything required to be up and running.
I also talked to my brother about it, and he is interested in helping. He is interested in a similar solution, but instead of adding software as a bonus, he wants to do more hardware, specifically RFID, bluetooth, wireless communication hardware.
The plan is to have the equipment for anyone to buy the things they need, but then to offer complete solutions and packages that are more problem-focused. If you have this problem, buy this package. We will try to make the problems as specific as possible, so we would have the same package, but focused on different industries.
More than likely, there won’t be too much difference between the packages, but the idea is to have multiple ways of selling the same thing. One item could be bought by itself, in a little package, or as a part of a complete solution.
Really, I just don’t want stuck with 100 items that I can’t sell. The package plan is the insurance against having boxes of items I don’t really want.
