With the new client work starting, I have to take a drug test before my first day of work. I had it scheduled for today, early morning. It wasn’t the best drug screen I ever had to do.
To start things off, I was running late. By the time I left, I was 20 minutes away for an appoint that was in 5 minutes. Plus, I had to get gas. The gas station is the opposite way from where I work, and the drug screening place is in between them, but way farther north. Also, I have no idea where I am even going.
I finally get to the gas station, and my GPS is getting all confused. Going here was really out of the way, and the GPS seems to think I am lost. However, it changes directions based on where I am. Now, instead of going east, it wants me to go west all because I stopped.
I finally get there, and I am about 30 minutes past the appointment, but the place is empty. I sign in and skip the appointment info part so I don’t have to stay I am super late. By this time, I really have to go to the bathroom since I knew I would have to go in a cup, I didn’t go all morning.
Then some old guy comes in and sits down. Finally, she asks who is next, and it appeared like she wasn’t talking to me. I just sat there, and she said whoever is next can come on back. The old guy gets up and goes and says he has an appointment.
No one ever looked at the sign in sheet, so I regret not saying I have an appointment. This guy is back by the reception window just rambling about his life story. He is taking forever. I am really getting annoyed and now I run the risk of the next person with an appointment to come in and cut in front of me.
Someone else comes in and sits down. I am starting to think about just leaving. I will likely be late to work and I hate this place. The old guy finally leaves, and I know I have to stand up first. Hesitating gives the other guy the chance to go in ahead of me. Luckily, she came out of the door and specifically told me to come on back.
I was late to work, but I don’t think anyone noticed or cared.
