I was doing some client work yesterday, and got a call from another developer. He wanted to know if I had time for another call today about the work load and invoicing.

I was trying to get everything done to avoid weekend work. Everything was going well until I had to do a final build of day. That didn’t happen until almost 10:00pm. At 11:00pm, the server went down for maintenance, and it wouldn’t come back up.

Today, I had to get everything that I said I would complete yesterday, and then the stuff that was also planned for today. I didn’t even wake up early with all the sleeping I did last night.

Things were going so well, and then I fell asleep. It was shortly after the evening status call for the client work that I fell asleep. It was horrible timing since I just got off the phone saying what all I planned on having done and fell asleep before doing any of it.

Only a few eBay items sold. Client work wasn’t too bad since I am integrating with a system that wasn’t ready. I could really do anything I wanted and say I was done since the missing piece was needed to actually run the code and see a result. I did get some time to look at pre-launch material…and it was really disappointing.

I woke up early (more like not late, for once) and was able to get everything to the post office. The stupid drop box jammed, but there were other packages set along the counter, so I put my there, too. I didn’t get any new client work, for the most part, and even had time to work on the WordPress plugin.

I still spent a great deal of time sleeping. That was followed by things I should have been doing during the week, like cleaning my apartment and laundry. I don’t go to the post office after Saturday morning since the drop box has a high likelihood of being jammed.

I was really hoping to get caught up on client work, but that didn’t really happen. Yesterday was invoicing day, but along with that, I have to submit a work log broken day by hour per day. That stupid log took me 3 hours to put together.

I am still getting client work assigned to me with a delivery date being the same day. Every time I get tasks done, I get more right after. I am ending the week with more tasks than I started with, and the ones I get are due the same day. I am trying to get all that need to be completed to avoid having to do mandatory weekend work.

I had one eBay listing with a quantity of about 20 that just wasn’t selling. After revising the price, I am selling at least one a day since. Today, I got eBay sales back up to the point it’s worth doing.
